Workshop in Aurich

Health and wealth in Europe

Workshop: day 3

The presentation is very near! Everyone is getting nervous, but all workshops have almost finished their project.

I went to interview people during the evening workshop yesterday. It was SO cold, but as usual I didn’t regret it at all.

When I entered the room where the “music workshop” was practising they were doing a warm up jam session. They managed to fix the lyrics for the blues song properly; I listened to it and it’s really great. The mood was very relaxed, but all of them were very concentrated.

The Movie workshop was through a very delicate step of the editing process, so I couldn’t stay while they were working; I managed to talk with Elodie though, and she told me what the movie workshop is like. She told me that she had chosen this workshop because of her other great passion, photography, which is quite similar. She’s very satisfied with it because it isn’t just a place where students make some amateurish videos, it’s a real film laboratory, where you can learn everything about angles, close ups, zooms, just as professionals do. It allows you to work in a team too, so you can learn to deal with different ideas and opinions. It’s difficult to communicate with your team mates though, because of the technical terms that you may know in your own language but you can’t say in English. It was a long, nice chat because her team mates were busy with the editing, so she didn't have much to do.

The next workshop was Art: I saw a lot of beautiful paintings and there were some sculptures too. The teacher said that thy were almost ready for the presentation. Then they displayed all their paintings in the corridor which now is really colourful. It’s very interesting because they have titles in different languages.

In the Mask-drama workshop I observed the people while they were choosing roles, and collecting their ideas on a large paper: they tried to act as smokers, who smoked their cigarettes with automatic gestures, and as a couple of fighters who were hitting each other in slow motion without touching. I don’t know if they are going to put that in the play, but it was very funny to watch.

Yesterday the busiest workshop was the Radio one: they had to write the script of their program, that will be “on air” in the afternoon and it will be broadcast by a local radio on Sunday. During the program they will introduce themselves to the audience, they will make interviews, a survey and even games. There will be music too.

Our cooking/communication and promotion workshop was very busy too: they created a page on Facebook where they’re going to post everything about this week, such as photos of the workshop and the recipes.

Thanks to them, yesterday we had the international dinner: a Spanish starter, a main dish from Italy, another dish from Germany and a Dutch dessert.

About us of the Creative writing workshop, Hannah and Daniel finished their story and are about to scan the book. Raquel and Desirée made lots of postcards and I finished my interviews, while Felicia and Maxime took the last photos for their work

This is all for today. I just can’t wait to see the presentations from the other workshops.
